Yesterday I did some voluntary work for Mind Inclusion in Norwich. The Inclusion Conference, Pathways to Wellbeing event was held at the King’s Centre. The Conference was opened by the Lord Mayor Jenny Lay and there was a message by Mind Patron Trisha Goddard. Peter Gianfrancesco, Chief Executive of Mind also made a speech as well as various other people supporting Inclusion. There was also a fantastic short video presentation showing inclusion clients and volunteers work. Alex Stuart-Sheppard created the film and has done a fantastic job. The event also launched the Inclusion Book, which is packed full of really useful information. There was also various workshops held including mental health and wellbeing. Paola who is the Manager of Inclusion and Alex organised the event. Inclusion is a Norwich Mind project which helps support and provide services to people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Communities in Norwich.

I have been a volunteer with Mind Inclusion for over a year now and I have volunteered with about 3 events. I have also recently become a Mind Associate with Norwich Mind and I recently completed a Mental Health First Aid course at Mind. For more information about the Mind first Aid Course and information on how to become a Mind Associate, please visit the website link at the top of this blog or click on the relevant links within this text.

I had a great time, really enjoyed working on the registration desk. It was very hard work as there were around 150 people to register in a short space of time. I enjoyed meeting so many interesting people. I was thrilled also to be introduced to Peter Gianfrancesco’s wife, Trisha Goddard. She was so nice and friendly and I was so pleased when she said she liked my work, how cool is that. She gave a really good speech and was very good at talking.

I only managed to get a couple of photos but they are not very good as my cameras battery had gone.
